Three ways to give.
1Is my gift tax deductible?
Yes all donations are tax deductible and eligible for tax write-offs. Receipts for monetary donations are provided at the end of each calendar year.
3Why do churches always ask for money?
The ongoing expenses and costs of ministry at Elim run more than $500k each year. We are blessed to have a pastoral staff, custodians, and a great building that keep Elim's ministries vibrant and effective! Your gifts go to helping us meet those needs. The reality is, churches and pastors shouldn't have to ask for money. We see the incredible spirit of generosity in Jesus, his first disciples, and in the many faithful who came after them. The Spirit of God blesses us and compels us to give cheerfully and the act of giving our "first fruits" is worship to God, rather than a religious duty. God said to Abraham: "I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing” (Gen 12:2) As Jesus paradoxically said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." (Acts 20:35)
4I am short on money this month, am I still supposed to give?
No, you aren't "supposed to" give. Each person needs to decide over the long run what giving level is honoring to God. One standard in the church has been 10% of one's income (a tithe) -- a good goal for people earning a middle class income. For others with greater means it could be more than 10%! For some it may be much less or be seasonally based. One thing is true, we can all give something and we are all called to faithful contentment with our possessions, to make sacrifices for the purposes of God's kingdom, and to engage in spirit-led generosity -- whatever that looks like.
5Who can I talk to about my giving?
Giving is both a practical and spiritual matter. Please call the main office if you have questions or if you are needing advice or counsel on this matter please speak to one of our leadership team members or arrange to see a pastor.
5. Does this replace my current ACH giving or use of money envelopes?
It does not replace any of those. If you wish to have greater control over your ACH payments then this system is ideal. Please contact the office 612.789.3591 if you have any questions.
Are there fees for online giving?7
For ACH withdrawals Elim Church is charged a low fee of $0.25 per transaction. For credit card transactions it is 2.15% of the total amount + $0.30 per transaction. These fees are in line with or cost less than normal online services and provide a level of convenience and flexibility in processing donations. If you wish to avoid fees altogether you may wish to give in person or set up bill pay through your bank.
